Smile you never know who it will save.

So as you all probably know Nevada day was recently so I was patrolling with the Sheriffs Department. I was doing my usual thing at the parade just making sure everyone was safe and watching for any problems. I would smile and joke around with people not really thinking anything of it because that's my job to be nice and polite to people. Well today I was getting off work early when my phone rang. It was the Sheriff I was terrified to answer my phone because the sheriff almost never...no make that never calls you out of no where unless you are in trouble or about to be. So I answered and he asked me to come to the Sheriffs Department. I told him I'd be right there and raced over there with my heart beating out of my chest...what could the Sheriff want? Was I in trouble? Did I offend someone? Am I getting Fired? The list of questions went on in my head. I finally got to the Sheriffs Department shakeing in fear of what was coming. I walked up stairs to the Sheriff. He told me to come in and sit down he asked how I was doing handed me a box of tissues and a letter addressed to Deputy M. Crounk....wait a second he just handed me a tissue box because A. This letter is going to say I am fired or B. This letter is going to make me extremely happy because I just got hired as a Deputy. I looked at him and he said go ahead read it. So I began reading it. It was from a 14 year old boy, I cant give you his name because of privacy issues but anyway the letter said:

"Dear M. Crounk (sorry I cant write your first name this is the name I got off your name plate. My name is (....). I wanted to thank you for smiling at me on Saturday. My life is rough and I am constantly spit at cussed at called rude names and beat on and was ready to say goodbye to the world. I felt like no one cared about me until you took time out of your day to smile and say hi to a freak like me. Thank you."

The letter goes on but I'm not going to share it. I don't remember this boy but I wish I did. The Sheriff asked if he could read it so I let him. Then her told me I was an outstanding young lady and shook my hand told me I was one of the best cops he has ever met and wished I was 21 already so he could hire me and than thanked me. I walked out of the Sheriffs office a little while after that laughing at my self about how scared I was to go into that office. So thought of the day smile you never know who needs one. :)

That is so sweet! It's the kind of thing you hear about in tv shows or movies. I'm so glad it was real life for you. How thoughtful of this person to take the time to write you a letter. He made my day!
